Become an empowered rider
“It's my job as the instructor to make sure the student gets it."
Each lesson is specific to the horse and rider in the arena. Stephanie can pinpoint the issues holding you back. Riders become more effective riders within a few lessons. The changes can be amazing!
Stephanie has amassed miles of experience over her 40 years of teaching and training, working with a variety of disciplines, and various breeds of horses. Her eye for balance along with her teaching method makes it easy for riders to learn from her.
Riders of any level and all breeds of horses are welcome. The methods Stephanie teaches apply to all riders. The horses usually make big changes during the clinic as well, happy that their riders are finding balance and harmony.
"The better the rider rides, the better the horse goes. The better the horse goes, the better the rider can ride." - Mary Wanless

Many people are! Within the Empowered Rider community you will find a supportive group of people. Everyone is here to learn to be better partner with their horse. Stephanie has a quiet, supportive, and understanding teaching method.
Send me a short video clip, 5 minutes is fine! Max of 10 minutes. It can be edited and spliced but beware of only sending me the "good stuff". Be real.
Show me a variety of work in both directions. Best if you and horse are warmed up a bit before filming. If there is something specific, like leg yield for example, set that up video wise to best show me. I'll do a play by play voice over on the video, and send back to you. I don't need to see a bunch of any one thing, use your time wisely, show me a few circles each direction, a few transitions, a few jumps, etc.
A real time riding lesson over the internet. You can ride with me and not even leave the farm! You will need either very good cell service or WIFI (best). As well as a Pivo and cell phone with wireless ear buds.. There is another set up called Pixio/Pixem but is more expensive. This system works better than the Pivo if you will be riding when there are other horses in the arena.
Absolutely NOT! Instruction is geared toward each horse and rider specifically. You won't find Stephanie pushing riders and horse to do things that are way above their level. Maybe some gentle guidance to move you along, but never to intimidate or belittle you.
Yes! Although kids are not Stephanie's main students these days, she got her start in teaching by volunteering to teach Pony Club on Saturdays back when she was 18 living on St. Croix USVI. Seems a lifetime ago now.
